I've come across several new designers recently that do incredible things with our templates. They've been making layouts for us to use in our convention booths, advertising, etc. Well, they're just too good not to share with you all so you can expect to see more samples of designs right here in this blog during the coming weeks.
First up is this adorable layout from Cindy Nelson. Cindy is a friend of my friend, Donna, who has been doing design work for us for years now. (In fact, Donna's working on some top secret projects as we speak, but you'll have to wait a few months to see those!) Back to Cindy: she lives in New Mexico and does the most incredible doodling I've ever seen. Are you a doodler? I'm not. Never once have I drawn squiggles and swirls while gabbing on the phone with a friend. I remember watching my mother do that when I was a little kid and wondered what the heck she was doing that for! The concept was beyond me. I'm a symmetrical, linear person and it shows up big time in my layouts. So when I come across someone like Cindy who not only "doodles", but does it in a fabulous way, I'm impressed, intriqued, and in awe.
This is a layout that she did using our Forest Stamp & Stitch. There are so many details in it that are totally lost in the scan. I wish you could see it as I do. The pine sprig was stamped and embossed with a dark green glittery embossing powder. When she stitched the accents, she added a shiny gold bead to each stitch. On the photo mat, she pierced holes using the Fiber Friend template, stitched using the same green fiber as on the pine sprig, and once again added the small gold beads. If you click on the layout, you'll see a much larger version and be able to see some of those details a little bit better. It's absolutely stunning in person. And the doodling...wow! It's a gift, I tell you. A gift.
So enjoy this layout and feel free to get some ideas for the upcoming holiday season. That same pine sprig makes a great holiday card. I'll show you a sample of that in the next few days.
